Mel: Hey, I am so glad that you're here and I am super excited to introduce you to unlocking you a self coaching series. As you know, I'm Mel Findlater, a possibility coach, and in all of my work my aim is to help you move from a space of stuckness and overwhelm into a space of possibility. The [00:01:00] kind of possibility that exists once you're able to truly See it, because when you do, you can step into the incredible impact that you're meant to create in this world.
And one of the most powerful ways I've found to help with that, beyond coaching directly with me, is to give you the right questions to self coach. Because our minds are naturally curious. When we ask ourselves the right questions, ones that invite reflection, challenge assumptions, and open doors, we often discover that we already hold the answers we need.
We just need to create space to hear them. That's exactly what this series is here for. So over the next few episodes, in each episode, I will guide you through a simple but powerful coaching question designed to help you move from feeling stuck to seeing new possibilities. No pressure, no right or wrong answers, just a chance to check in with yourself and [00:02:00] uncover what's next.
So whenever you're ready, take a deep breath, settle in, and let's begin.

It's episode one of our mini series, Unlocking You, a Self Coaching Series, and I'm really excited to share all of this with you. So today is really about the very first step that is in every single coaching and self coaching journey, and really at the heart of it all. We need to check in with us before we can move forward in any journey.
We need to understand where we are right now. That's true for big dreams, for personal growth, and even just for making everyday decisions. But if you have this kind of dream of getting unstuck, [00:03:00] of seeing what's possible, of seeing beyond what you've already seen for yourself and the world, then first we have to start with where you are right now.
So often, we rush through life without ever really pausing to check in with ourselves. So today is about taking that moment to do just that. This is why every coaching session starts with awareness. Because once we see where we are, we can make intentional choices about what comes next. So, today, I invite you to take a breath, step out of autopilot mode, and just check in.
Alright, so, we're going to do it in a little bit of a guided way today. If you are driving, this might not be something that you want to close your eyes and really check in with. Maybe do it at a little bit more of a [00:04:00] superficial level, and do it again later. The great thing about having this for free on a podcast is that you can do it as many times as you want.
wish. So, wherever you are right now, let's slow down. Let's regulate ourselves. Let's check in with ourselves. Take a deep breath
in.
If you're able to, place your feet flat on the floor. Let your body just relax for only a moment.
Go with the need to fix anything while we do this. This isn't about solving problems. It's simply about noticing what's present for you.[00:05:00]
I want you to imagine stepping outside of yourself for a moment, as if you're an observer watching your life with curiosity and kindness. And ask yourself these questions. How are you feeling right now? Physically? In your body?
Emotionally?
What's been taking up most of your energy lately?
Remember, with curiosity and kindness, not judgment.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how full is your cup right now?[00:06:00]
What is one word that describes how you've been showing up in your life?
What has been bringing you joy? Have you been making space for joy at all? Now
remember, there's no need to judge your answers. Simply notice them. It's only information, like looking at a map to see where you are before choosing your next destination. And because you likely did stop and judge yourself there, because it's human nature, take another big breath
and enter that space of curiosity. [00:07:00] Look at that map that you just created for yourself. Where are you right now? What visual would you give to describe that?
Now, as you check in with yourself, is there something that's been asking for your attention? Maybe it's a feeling that you've been pushing aside, or an air of your life that feels neglected, or a longing that's been whispering at you.
If your body could speak, what would it ask for right now? Now,
if your heart could speak, what would it need most today?
If your mind could be [00:08:00] still for just a moment, what clarity might emerge?
Let these questions settle. There's no rush. Just breathe into whatever comes up.
And remember, be kind to yourself.
Coaching is all about awareness, leading to action. And now that you've checked in with yourself, I wanna leave you with one simple next step.
Ask yourself, what's one small act of kindness or care you can offer yourself today? Based on what you've noticed. Maybe it's giving yourself permission to rest. Maybe it's setting a small boundary. Or choosing to do something that brings you joy. Maybe it's to do nothing [00:09:00] and let things sit. Whatever it is, honour it.
Now this is self coaching. You can listen to this as many times as you feel the need to do. If you want to go and journal about each of these prompts, or you want to doodle, or you want to go for a mindful walk, or you just simply want to let them sit. Because now that we've asked the question, your mind wants to answer it, even if you don't take the intentional time.
Even more so if you do. So that's question one. That's the theme. Check in with where you are. In this series, I'm going to lead you through many questions and themes [00:10:00] to get you out of this space of where you are right now, if you want to be, and open up and expand yourself to see even more, to see what's possible.
Now, as you go through this and if something comes up for you, I'd love to hear about it. You can send me a message, DM me on Instagram, or Facebook. You can journal your thoughts, share this episode with someone else who might need it,
and if it sends you into a space that's really, really difficult, reach out for support from someone you love, or from a therapist, or from a coach, depending on what it is that's coming your way. You've got this. [00:11:00] You're a human. You feel stuck, like we all do sometimes. And that's okay. My hope is over the next few weeks, we can get you to a space where you start to see a glimmer of possibility, a whole bucket full of hope, and likely, that's gonna get you into a space where you want to take action.
So, if you're ready to take this self coaching journey deeper, Join me in the next episode where we'll explore the next step of what do you really want? Because once we know where we are, the next question is where do we want to go? Until then, please take care of yourself. You are amazing. See you soon.
